Charro is a wonderful horse that "rules the roost" in our pasture. Charro was the 1st horse we purchased when we got into the world of horses. She was a birthday gift for my wife Linda back in 1993. Originally, Linda had asked for a diamond tennis bracelet. I told her that was absurd, and she didn't need a diamond tennis bracelet. I also explained that we couldn't afford one for her. She then said that she wanted a horse if I wouldn't get her the bracelet. I immediately said "OK", because I had always had a love for horses. I had one as a child and I really had a lot of fun with that old plow horse of a mare. So, that weekend we went to a farm and purchased Charro for Linda and I purchased a sorrel quarter horse for myself. Neither of the horses had names when we purchased them. We named Linda's mare Charro and my mare Kiahwa as we were riding down the highway looking at the rumps of our "horse children" on our way back to my brother Ben's farm. Linda, to this day, can't figure out why she agreed to settle for a horse rather than a bracelet. But, it has really been a blessing. We have really made some wonderful friends thru our horses. Charro's claim to fame is that she is a 5th generation descendant of the great Thoroughbred race horse CITATION who was a TRIPLE CROWN WINNER. She also is the 5th generation descendant of the legendary race horses "NASURULLAH and NEARCO. Charro is not only smart, she's fast!!!
